Located close to the Port since 1983, the Canet en Roussillon Aquarium houses 54 tanks with a volume ranging from 100 to 54,000 litres of water containing numerous freshwater and saltwater species.

Come and marvel at the sea-life from 5 continents with a voyage that will take you through the Mediterranean, the clear waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Red Sea.

Get ready to see, Sharks, piranhas, tropical fish, Florida turtles, coelacanth (a survivor from prehistoric times), iguanas, giant toads as well as other surgeonfish.

A visit which is as much about enjoyment and surprises as it is about observing and learning about life in very different and environments and biotopes.

 

We have many creatures at the Canet-en-Roussillon Aquarium which have reached a great age:

  • Clown Fish bred in captivity: 21 years
  • Jewfish: 22 years
  • Semicirculatus Angel fish : 22 years
  • Common stingray: 25 years
  • Botia Clown : 28 years
  • Orangespine surgeonfish: 28 years

And many others …

 

All the coral on display has been bred from cuttings or cuttings which have been transferred, many of the species have been bred in the Aquarium:

  • The freshwater fish from the African lakes
  • The Lemon Tetra
  • All the Piranhas
  • The Seahorses
  • The Jellyfish
  • The Common Stingrays (approximately ten individuals)
  • The clown fish
  • The Royal Gramma
  • The Cardinalfish
  • And never before bred in an Aquarium,  the Orbicular batfish
